The Hammarlund Manufacturing Company, known to most as simply “Hammarlund”, was one of the major manufacturers of shortwave and Amateur Radio equipment in the United States.

The company sponsored “DX-peditions” to countries that had no resident radio amateurs. This enabled enthusiasts from all over the world to try and establish communication with the group in order to exchange QSL cards and record a new country on their contact list.
