Edwin Miller Richford, a chemist, started manufacturing rubber stamps in East London in 1878 and the company he founded quickly grew into one of the largest stamp makers in Britain.

In addition to manufacturing finished stamps, they also became the foremost supplier of components and raw materials to other rubber stamp makers in Britain and overseas. After more than 130 years they are still flourishing and are based in Sudbury, Suffolk.
