Welcome to our Autumn 2023 issue Nº 202 of The Ephemerist, in which we offer our grateful thanks to the outgoing Chair of the Society, Valerie Jackson-Harris for many years of dedicated service, in particular her enthusiastic championship of the Ephemera Fairs – the backbone of The Society’s activities. We are excited to welcome our new Chair, and frequent contributor to this journal, Dickon Weir-Hughes, as well as three new members to the Society Committee. Our enthusiasm for the collection, conservation, study and educational uses of handwritten and printed ephemera will continue! This issues covers Meller’s wonderful collection of colourful and exotic ‘shipper’s tickets’, Tanner’s short-lived but popular ‘portrait stamps’, colonial stamps, cigarette card albums, images from an exhibition of protest ephemera, news from Mrs Pepys, and N&Qs.
