Hotel disks

Hotel Discs

Q Can anyone explain the precise use of these hotel discs ? They have no visible means of attachment to a key. Two have text on the reverse and none have any sign of being attached to luggage. The charge of 16/6 and 20/- per room suggests perhaps a date in the 1920’s. Bottom right disc measures 58mm (2¼in) diameter.

A Since they all have room numbers on them, I should imagine that they are simply reminders to guests of their room numbers and, more importantly, probably need to be shown to the waiter in the dining room to indicate that the bearer is entitled to breakfast. But this is guesswork.
