A Victorian licence to keep one dog in Great Britain until 31 December 1885 costing the sum of seven shillings and sixpence (37½ new pence).

A The dog licence was introduced in 1867 to replace the Dog Tax. Greyfriars Bobby would have been one of the first dogs to be licenced. The City of Edinburgh paid for the licence until the little dog’s death in 1872.
